No it isn't. It's not how Signal is designed. If you don't like it, don't use it. There are plenty of other private options out there, such as Sesssion, which is based on Signal code.
No I didn't say that. What I said was I was running my own client (built from here).
I mean, if you are so inclined you can build the app from source (https://github.com/signalapp/Signal-Android) and prior to that verify the signal protocol source is the same as the one audited.
