If not, you could use something like lossless cut to trim down the clips to only the parts you actually want to edit.
If you have more hard drive space than I have bank balance, then you can setup OBS to record directly to ProRes using StreamFX, however it will have a significant performance overhead. I think a 3950x will be able to cope with it, but you may still drop some frames in demanding games.
