  • My man, most Ubiquiti gear will allow you to install a whole plethora of modules because it runs on Linux (https://help.ui.com/hc/en-us/articles/220066768-Updating-Self-Hosted-UniFi-Network-Servers-Linux- as an example ..https://github.com/nextdns/nextdns/wiki/UnifiOS ). The maintenance of which is easily handled by any Linux sysadmin. I'm a dummy and run two custom modules for CloudFlare and NextDNS and have done so for 3+ years without a single failure. It's purely a cost benefit analysis. If one has the skills or a team with the skills...a large number of UBNT devices can do some amazing things (that aren't exposed via the GUI). It's why there is a HUGE number of small ISPs and WISPs that use them extensively (as another user in this thread posted). Now, don't get me wrong, can Tier 1 providers do more out of the box? For sure. Will they also natively support those features? For sure. Will they charge the customer multiples what UBNT does? For sure. It's pure cost vs benefit and where the rubber hits the road is mainly the support of advanced features. Your company/you can install a tonne of funky things on your UBNT gear...but the support of it is on you/your team. With a Tier 1 it is on their team (usually).

  • unifios-utilities

A collection of enhancements for UnifiOS based devices

  • https://github.com/unifi-utilities/unifios-utilities <- this cannot be more simple to digest. Stop spreading FUD (and learn to code if you still don't understand how Github works and what is linked)

  • InfluxDB

Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale. Get real-time insights from all types of time series data with InfluxDB. Ingest, query, and analyze billions of data points in real-time with unbounded cardinality.

  • unifi-systemd-units

Discontinued :package: Systemd Units for UniFi OS.

  • DUDE...seriously?? It's Debian Linux is the point of what I'm posting. I'm just showing you PREBUILT open source projects. You could write your own script in a day if you understood Linux and read some support materials. And for the record, a 10 second google search shows other well supported open source projects: https://github.com/WireGuard/wireguard-vyatta-ubnt/wiki/UnifiOS-(UDM,-UDR,-UXG)) & https://github.com/ntkme/unifi-systemd-units PLUS Podman FFS https://podman.io/ ...which basically means you can run hundreds of different services on the devices if you know what you're doing/have a team that does. Which again, means the issue is mainly about support and cost vs benefit. The hardware is solid value for money. The software is freaking Debian Linux.. which most of the internet runs on!

  • podman

Podman: A tool for managing OCI containers and pods.
