We started payload a couple years ago because we were in a very similar place. We took all the things we (and our clients) liked with WP and built it in a more modern, dev friendly way. It comes with the admin panel, auth, rest endpoints and so much more. I encourage you to give it a look! It’s written in JS/TS, which is nice because your frontend engineers can easily transition to full stack. Knowledge sharing is a huge boost for productivity.
