Terragrunt on the other hand solves a small handful of problems very invasively. When it first came out, it was a no brainer. It solved so many pain points that we had with Terraform. But over time, Terraform resolved those pain points and Terragrunts value add shrunk to the point where just the cost of adding another tool to the stack is not worth the benefits Terragrunt brings. Brikis has done some work on a new approach to managing Terraform, in this PR: https://github.com/gruntwork-io/terragrunt/pull/2403. It is an interesting idea and hopefully is developed further so we can properly evaluate, but it is looking like the right approach long-term.
