After a bit of research, I stumbled upon this linux-surface GitHub issue (about the iptsd touch driver). From what I understand, the SP4 touchscreen outputs a lot of noise and garbage data that the driver sometimes understand as touches, creating a "ghost touch" effect under Linux. In my case, I have some touches that are not being registered and sure enough, when collecting touch data using iptsd-dump (as described in the link above), almost all the "blobs" are either yellow or red, indicating that the driver won't pass these inputs as it deems them "not good enough". I noticed that the more I move my finger closer to the center of the screen, higher the chances are to get a green "blob" without 100% certainty. When trying to draw using my finger in Krita, I get a lot of distorted and jittery lines, especially at the top of the screen.
I tried calibrating iptsd driver with the help of this tutorial but it only made things worse, so I reverted the settings back. I also tried some settings listed in the GitHub issue linked above without better results so I just reverted everything back to the latest version of the iptsd.conf file available on GitHub.
