This page summarizes the projects mentioned and recommended in the original post on /r/linuxquestions

Our great sponsors
  • WorkOS - The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS
  • InfluxDB - Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale
  • SaaSHub - Software Alternatives and Reviews
  • retext

ReText: Simple but powerful editor for Markdown and reStructuredText (by retext-project)

  • There are also options such as ghostwriter or retext that work with a specific lightweight text markup language and can display a WYSIWYG output.

  • github-orgmode-tests

This is a test project where you can explore how github interprets Org-mode files

  • Personally, I use emacs with org-mode.

  • WorkOS

The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS. The APIs are flexible and easy-to-use, supporting authentication, user identity, and complex enterprise features like SSO and SCIM provisioning.

  • homebrewery

Create authentic looking D&D homebrews using only markdown

  • My philosophy these days is text formats like markdown and latex, and if I need to I can always compile it into whatever format the recipient wants. However for something completely different homebrewery is fun. Yeah it's meant for d&d, but no reason that has to be its only purpose.

  • wpunix

    WordPerfect for UNIX Character Terminals

  • WordPerfect is a thing, still, and while its way more powerful, some would consider to be pretty clunky in terms of usability.

  • wordgrinder

A word processor which gets the hell out of your way and lets you get some work done.

  • WordGrinder. It's great for distraction-free writing, and can output Markdown or troff. It's a great tool for getting words down, but its otherwise pretty limited (which I think is one of its strengths). When I need to print or generate a PDF, I have a little script.

  • InfluxDB

Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale. Get real-time insights from all types of time series data with InfluxDB. Ingest, query, and analyze billions of data points in real-time with unbounded cardinality.
