Have you considered remapping your number keys so that the symbol is the primary and number the secondary? I'm assuming you would be using the numpad layer for numbers either way on your advantage 2. Example layout: https://github.com/ThePrimeagen/keyboards.
For complex interfaces, this looked pretty cool. Especially if you already have other React code. Haven't tried it though.
