I think you are spot on. It's kind of sad that civitai.com example shots for models seem to be about 75% waifus of some variety. It paints a bad picture of all the cool models you can find on there, because there are tons of models that are useful for all kinds of work. And as someone who has been very happily married for 30 years, nothing can replace a real flesh and blood woman with a great mind.
