This project loads the database files that IMDB provides into SQLite. I'll dig into this to see how it works; I briefly thought about doing something like this and was daunted by the huge files.

and finding the corresponding IMDB page. Using IMDB's search works about 90% of the time. Searching IMDB with Google is more accurate but Google turns off search after a while. My current best approach is the most accurate (probably): I let Emby do the work. It creates a tvshow.nfo file that has almost all the metadata I want, except for the IMDB rating which I can look up on IMDB because tvshow.nfo (almost always) contains the IMDB ttNumber. The problem with the Emby approach is detecting when Emby gets it wrong.

I might try on IMDbApiClient to see if it would be helpful for that.
