  • restickler

Supervise restic to back up, test restore, forget, prune, and check.

  • I created a helper tool restickler to manage when restic runs (e.g., to prevent it running while on battery, hotspot, or idle).

  • restic

    Fast, secure, efficient backup program

  • If you prefer a minimalist CLI tool, restic is phenomenal. You configure it with your cloud storage provider of choice, and it uploads your data, encrypted, compressed, and deduplicated. Restoring from back up is similar to working with git commits. You can run it via cron, so there's no software running continuously in the background. It takes about 2 minutes for it to scan and upload changed files for about 300 GB of data. I use GCP Coldline storage, which costs about $2/month.
