What would be a good way to digitize miniDV these days?

I know you said "Mac preferred," but if you don't want to fight the Apple, and you have a Windows desktop handy, you can get a Firewire PCIe card for less than $20 and WinFF can capture your footage effortlessly. It's a little cheaper than Apple's solution, especially once you consider you'll need a Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter (which, again, isn't the cheapest solution from Apple and I dunno how much you trust the alternatives).
