OK thanks for the explanation of the config. Seems like some of those are configurable in the Vial GUI, but perhaps not the RETRO_SHIFT and TAPPING_TERM_PER_KEY. The config items available in Vial are shown here. Some are obvious mappings to what you mentioned, but unsure if getting what you're describing is possible with the UI alone, or if you'd have to go with a custom QMK build instead.
