Is there a design flaw is the Gigabyte 4090 GAMING OC fan control? Here is what I've found with my card so far.

  • Originally, I thought it was a fan sensor issue, and it still might be as I dont believe my fans are spinning at 200,000+ RPM, however after reading a lot of reddit posts [1] [2] I'm starting to believe the issue may be in fact a design issue.

  • I've been able to mitigate this issue by using Fan Control and a applying a fan curve with a minimum of 60% when I know that I will be using the GPU to prevent this issue. In a few days of testing the fans have not spiked and the fan rpm readings have been normal (sub 2,500 rpm).
