  • Valve apparently figured out the same solution as me. As evidenced by this change in their repo. The mount point will be moved to the new directory, but a symlink will be made to the legacy path. What does this mean? Nothing you've set up prior will break by this change once SteamOS 3.5 rolls out. You'll simply have 2 different paths to your SD card. However when you set up something new you should use the new path instead going forward. This is not required, but Valve is trying to phase out the old path in the long term.
