  • If you have a look at the docker-compose file for the Umbrel LNBits app you'll get a sense of how it works with your node. It's communicating with the LND back end over REST. Basically, it *is* your wallet, but with additional features layered on top, and with a level of abstraction that keeps funds separate. That unfortunately is the limit of my technical understanding, but the gist of it is that, because LNBits talks to the underlying LND service to get things done, sending funds from your Umbrel "wallet" to LNBits is basically sending funds to yourself.
