    If you use NixOS with flakes, you literally just change the revision hash in a flake file and press compile and your whole system updates and compiles as if you had installed that new version (with all of its dependencies regardless of how much they've changed) with a Docker-esque guarantee that everything is configured properly. I have a full NixOS confg with Cardano Node here if you'd like a starting point.
