Another interesting anecdote I can add to this conversation: In 2012 when I taught a summer camp on the MIT Scratch programming language to a class of 30 9-12 year olds, not one of them had difficulty navigating the file systems for sprite assets and saving their projects. Those kids all had PCs and Macs at home.
