python-pep517 and python-pyproject-hooks both existed for a while in parallel, because python-build==0.10.0 was just released yesterday with the new dependency and older versions were still relying on the old python-pep517 package, while python-pdm==2.3.0 was already released in early December with the new python-pyproject-hooks dependency in place.
