However, it's not impossible to use a Dualshock controller. For some years now, I have been using DS4Windows to use my DS4 on my PC. To put it simple, that software makes Windows believe that your Dualshock controller is in fact an Xbox controller and it works quite well. I mainly use it for games I acquired through Game Pass. If you play games through Steam, there is basically no difference to an Xbox controller because Steam acts as some sort of middleware which does the same thing as DS4Windows making it irrelevant.
If you have no preference, the xbox controller will probably have better compatability out of the box since both are microsoft, for the playstation controller you may still need external drivers (ds4windows).
unironically: Linux has better PlayStation Controller support than Windows does...
