How to get a fully functioning ubuntu 20.04 convertible laptop by voiding the warranty on a fancy chromebook.
Unfortunately, it doesn't always work that way. LARS comes with an Intel Skylake sound card, which requires Intel's signed firmware. This firmware was available only for Chrome OS. Therefore, there have always been some ways to get the audio to work on mainline Linux (see this GalliumOS issue, this, this and this), but they are all workarounds.

As of now, audio on LARS works on GalliumOS Skylake out of the box and after some tricks on Ubuntu 18.04-based distributions and Ubuntu 20.04-based distributions. Furthermore, it may work on Breath Linux (discontinued).
