Because google changed it's player ui again, people then wanted customisability, that customisability removed the icon on Android auto because the AA navigation is tied to the notification player so the icon disappeared and they are fixing now https://github.com/Automattic/pocket-casts-android/issues/590 updated today(and Chromecast too apperantly), While sure <2 but google will keep this player for a few years & it has app functions so they might as well support it
