Top 7 Java DevOps Projects

  • Jenkins

    Jenkins automation server

Project mention: Deploying to GitHub Pages using GitHub Actions | dev.to | 2022-01-25

The best thing to do in my opinion is to automate this process using GitHub Actions. GitHub Actions is a CI/CD tool that allows you to trigger a workflow on any event that GitHub Supports. It's very similar to things like CircleCI and Jenkins except it has really great support for this sort of task in the form of community created actions.

  • Flyway

Flyway by Redgate • Database Migrations Made Easy.

Project mention: How do you guys run code that does schema changes on the database (AKA Migrations)? | reddit.com/r/aws | 2022-01-23

Have a look at https://flywaydb.org, store the db creds somewhere secure and fetch them securely when you're running your CI/CD pipeline, as somebody else pointed out make db migration a separate step.

  • OPS

OPS - Build and Run Open Source Unikernels. Quickly and easily build and deploy open source unikernels in tens of seconds. Deploy in any language to any cloud.

  • onedev

    Super Easy All-In-One DevOps Platform

    Project mention: OneDev | reddit.com/r/devopspro | 2021-12-13
  • liquibase

    Main Liquibase Source

Project mention: SQL - Moving from concatenated queries to parameterized queries | reddit.com/r/learnprogramming | 2022-01-05

However, if you’re concerned if these queries will continue to work as before, I would recommend investing in creating tests for these. Using an in-memory database such as H2 or using Testcontainers, perhaps mixed with Liquibase to automate database updates, would allow you to create a stable database on which you can perform and test your queries.

  • snowflake

Graphical SFTP client and terminal emulator with helpful utilities (by subhra74)

    Project mention: Alternative to MobaXTern | reddit.com/r/linuxquestions | 2021-12-16
  • jenkins-rest

Java client, built on top of jclouds, for working with Jenkins REST API

Project mention: Which Java libraries would benefit from being Kotlin-ified? | reddit.com/r/Kotlin | 2021-05-01

Though, I definitely want to port over the GitHub and Jenkins libraries (at least). I've used multiple Java-based GitHub libraries along with the Jenkins REST wrapper library, and I feel that they leave much to be desired, IMHO. Plus, an idiomatic Kotlin version of these might actually turn out to be better overall. . . .

  • gocypher-cybench-junit

    Performance Benchmarking for JUnit tests

    Project mention: Performance Regression Testing (CI/CD) - CyBench JUnit Wiki | reddit.com/r/JavaPerformance | 2021-10-15
  • Scout APM

Less time debugging, more time building. Scout APM allows you to find and fix performance issues with no hassle. Now with error monitoring and external services monitoring, Scout is a developer's best friend when it comes to application development.
