zsh-autopair VS zsh-autocomplete

For cases like your example, adding in https://github.com/hlissner/zsh-autopair (I'm unaffiliated, make no promises, but it works well for me) may be an acceptable solution for some people. cm " isn't as short as cm but at least it's shorter than cm "...". (Some people will even be able to use c for the abbreviation, instead of cm).

Extras: Syntax highlighting, auto suggestions, fuzzy finder/completions on tab, auto pair etc.

autopair : - A ZSH plugin for auto-closing, deleting and skipping over matching delimiters. Only tested on ZSH 5.0.2 or later.

Is there a way to have quotes (" and ') auto closed in Rails console? In the likes of https://github.com/hlissner/zsh-autopair

If that was zsh there is https://github.com/hlissner/zsh-autopair to write quotes just once. Quite useful.

save yourself time and use autosuggestions/autocompletions fish shell does it by default, zsh needs a plugin https://github.com/marlonrichert/zsh-autocomplete (this one has a video showcasing it)

Yeah second this ^ its exactly what OP is asking for. Combine with auto-complete plugin and you can find any command youve typed before easily
