Emulator with API exists ?
Not 100% sure, but I suggest you to take a look at ZEsarUX.
- New version ZEsarUX-10.2 released.

simple zx emulator?
There are tons of emulators, FUSE being probably the most popular, but I'm partial to ZEsarUX as it just works out of the box with no config required and its smart load is pretty accurate, you can download it from here, just grab the windows zip, extract it and launch it.

Emulator with proper vsync & fullscreen?
Alas I'm a Windows dunce. I really know nothing about it. The Windows emulators I've see mentioned recently in the sort of emulator circles I frequent are Retro Virtual Machine and ZeSarUX but both of them are quite different from my ideal image of an emulator, having non-standard UIs and being very upfront about being products of their own. In my ideal world an emulator would just make my computer Spectrum compatible, so all my Spectrum software sits in my applications folder, or on my dock, or wherever else I launch software from, and clicking it launches it just like clicking on any other piece of software.

I'm having issues with the emulator Speccy. Can anyone help?
Otherwise, both ZeSarUX and Retro Virtual Machine tend to get great reviews but both have weird UIs. In the former case it's all drawn Spectrum-style and big on menus you scroll through, in the latter it's skeuomorphism-a-gogo and it has a — to me — fairly unintuitive project-oriented library for running software.

Bit random but does anyone know how possible it is to get this look within Stella? [Pallete/TV Effects].
Not Stella, but the Clock Signal emulator does a great job of emulating the TV effects. The 2600 emulation isn't quite as good as Stella, though.

Giveaway: Mac Plus with Hard Disk 20 - Chicago area
I’ll be visiting Chicago on the 9th for a single night, and the author of this Mac Plus emulator which attempts to be cycle-accurate and therefore it’d be really great to have a real machine to test against… but I’m clueless at electrical work. So factor that in re: the retirement that the machine be used by its direct recipient.

Of the more rarely seen here: the Apple II, why not?
The repository is here; binary releases for the Mac are in the appropriate section though HDV support and a few other relevant tweaks haven’t made it into a release yet so you can’t yet run Total Replay as shown. You’d probably need to use disk images.

Vi-mode for your Apple II prompt
Thanks for the confirmation! I just wrote an Issue. I hope Tom gets it sorted out. I normally use OpenEmulator on the Mac but I like the simplicity of CLK and would like to make it my main emulator.

But does it run Doom? Ummm, not exactly.
It's available via GitHub but fair warning: it's a large project and is the one I used to learn modern C++ so some of the older parts of it aren't fantastic.
