Has the Yubico Authenticator app for Android been abandoned?
There haven't been any commits on the Github repo since 2019 either (https://github.com/Yubico/yubioath-android).

Hardware 2 factor authentication
On Android, I use Aegis. On desktop/laptop, I wrote a little script which takes in the JSON export from Aegis (plain-text export, not encrypted) and parses that to generate TOTPs (using oathgen). Neither relies on SMS verification or can even be reset or bypassed using SMS verification.
