gotop VS htop

Not sure these are really popular, but I cannot resist advertising a few utilities written in Go that I regularly use in my daily workflow:

- gdu: a NCDU clone, much faster on SSD mounts [1]

- duf: a `df` clone with a nicer interface [2]

- massren: a `vidir` clone (simpler to use but with fewer options) [3]

- gotop: a `top` clone [4]

- micro: a nice TUI editor [5]

Building this kind of tools in Go makes sense, as the executables are statically compiled and are thus easy to install on remote servers.

gotop looks awesome! Here's a maintained fork that's linked to from the original, archived GitHub repo.

There also is btm that shows more host's parameters or gotop

I am the author of go-global-update, the missing command to update globally installed go executables (like gofumpt, gopls, gotop, and other CLI tools you may have installed globally in your system - in your GOBIN directory).

but I also like gotop - https://github.com/xxxserxxx/gotop because it combines processes with the same name and has a very large cpu graph - this is helpful for large machines with many CPUs running a lot of processes

A combination of Bpytop and Gotop for me. Both are great in their own way, but I find Gotop a bit more clear/less cluttered.

gotop is real nice too

Probably everyone knows about the "top" command. Htop is similar, but gives us a more user-friendly output. It shows processes using the most resources, how much available resources you have and who runs those processes. For more information, visit https://htop.dev/

determine which processes consume specific resources (in your particular case even a "5 minutes session of staring at htop" would do the trick.) (Alternatives: ps -ef, ps aux, top, glances ... )

When you see the laptop throttling, is htop or another monitoring program showing that the RAM is full, or is it only partly used?
