How do sprout players prepare for Savage raids : Best practices & Recommendations
Finally, if you're able to (and want to), you may want to considering getting ACT and setting up your character on FFLogs. You can set all your logs to Unlisted to keep them private, but the main reason I recommend logging is so you can put your logs into XIVAnalysis after uploading - it will give you a breakdown of what you did during the fight and offer advice on what you can do better. Even if you don't care that much about parse numbers the tips XIVA can be really helpful in terms of playing most effectively and seeing where you need to practice - and all of this will help even in casual content!

Not everyone cares about parse
If you know where one of your logs are posted https://xivanalysis.com will tell you some basic things you might miss.

DPS difference between gear?
People running ACT often upload logs of fights they were in as publically searchable there, so it is relatively likely if you've run the Abyssos raids a bunch that if you search your character there'll be logs with you in on the site. Damage is obviously effected by gear score and many people will have 630 ilvl and materia melds, but if you want stat agnostic feedback on how you're doing your rotation you can paste log URLs into https://xivanalysis.com/ to get some useful info.

Pick a row, click on any number on the first 6 columns to access the log for that particular fight. You can then copy/paste the URL for that log into the box when you load up xivanalysis.com. If the URL doesn't work, you're looking for the string after "/reports/" for a random example: bN6nfqaYZkrcL8VW would be adequate to paste in the box.

If you have logs of your fights, you can plug them into XIVAnalysis to give you specific feedback on your raiding gameplay.

High-End Content Megathread - 6.3 Week Ten
If you are unwilling to show us some logs, the best thing you can do is plug your logs into this website and see what it says. If you can fix any things it points out and consistently play at that level, then you can fire back at anyone that singles you out for dps reasons.

Frustrated with lack of improvement
you could try plugging one of your parses into https://xivanalysis.com/ to get a better idea of where you need improvement.

How do sprout players prepare for Savage raids : Best practices & Recommendations
For learning your opener / rotations, I'd definitely check the guides at The Balance. They also have gearing guides (although those are usually focused towards endgame/BiS). There is new gear coming in literally three days though so I wouldn't worry too much about it until the new patch drops, then you can figure out what to get. Generally you will want some mix of capped tomestone (so whatever is purchasable with the new Comedy tomes coming in this patch), and melded crafted gear. Most of the premade gearsets linked on TB and elsewhere will also advise what food to use, and the openers and the like on TB will tell what pots. Again, with a new raid tier coming in literally three days the info is going to change a lot, very quickly, so until then I would focus mostly on learning and practicing your opener and rotation. A big part of endgame raiding is learning how to pull off and coordinate your 2-minute burst and raid buffs, and being able to play your job well is the most important aspect of it. Outside of a few actions you generally won't be using macros or anything automated since those don't accommodate for weaving and other nuances that you'll need to be able to do in Savage.

What do you consider harder to play at a high level, samurai or reaper?
Unfortunately there isn't a manga, so I'm not exactly sure what you read, but if you are interested in improving you could try - https://www.thebalanceffxiv.com/

What jobs have the highest skill ceilings?
All the classes have a fairly high level of complexity once you start looking into endgame stuff and a high ceiling for play but some just lose less if you mess up. https://www.thebalanceffxiv.com/ Here is a good site to get started on reading stuff
