Ask HN: Rewrite Project or Abandon It?
Hi people,
I need your advice and opinion.
I have a project on GitHub that I wasn't updating for a while:
https://github.com/ivanilves/xiringuito
And it still works kinda OK for me, but technically it's a hard to maintain gibberish and I'm thinking about rewriting it in a statically compiled language, add unit testing and be able to incorporate different advanced features without making myself and others cry.
HOWEVER: I doubt this makes sense and fear to just lose time on it.
Could you please help me with a decision:
If you think it's worth rewriting, add a GitHub star on https://github.com/ivanilves/xiringuito
If you think it's a pile of shite and it should die, no problem, just ignore it :)
It already has 954 stars for now and if number of stars goes 1k+ this month, I'll rewrite it. If not, it would be a sign it's a [c/t]rap and I need to run away and forget ;)
THANK YOU!

What is the simplest/cleanest script with gui to install wireguard on a new vps without docker?
I haven't tried the previously mentioned options. I do very much like wireguard-manager.
- Hardware for 500Mbit/s Max 20 users with 24Mbit/s speed
- Add WireGuard VPN on my exicting PI-hole+unbound ubuntu DNS server on my old laptop.
- WireGuard connection very slow
- Setting up WireGuard
-
VPN doesn't connect when using the domain name instead of IP
I've used Wireguard-Manager to set up my server and goes perfectly fine. The problem is that it sets the Endpoint as :, so if the IP of my router changes, I have to change it all together.
- Adding PiHole to the existing WireGuard VPN
-
Peer to server port forwarding
What I would suggest is something like pivpn or a setup script like this https://github.com/complexorganizations/wireguard-manager
-
Adding new peer to existing setup
I personally run 2 wireguard "servers" one on a Pi and one on a VM (both running Ubuntu Server) and I use this script https://github.com/complexorganizations/wireguard-manager
What are some alternatives?

streisand - Streisand sets up a new server running your choice of WireGuard, OpenConnect, OpenSSH, OpenVPN, Shadowsocks, sslh, Stunnel, or a Tor bridge. It also generates custom instructions for all of these services. At the end of the run you are given an HTML file with instructions that can be shared with friends, family members, and fellow activists.
OPNsensePIAWireguard - This script automates the process of getting Wireguard setup on OPNsense to connect to PIA's NextGen Wireguard servers. It will create Wireguard Instance(Local) and Peer(Endpoint) on your OPNsense setup.
