How do I respond to a security researcher?

It's not difficult to use an off the shelf scanner to identify potentially vulnerable scripts on someones site then email them asking for money while alluding to other potential vulnerabilities.

To start, I highly recommend reviewing this plugin security testing cheat sheet for WordPress. It has the most common WordPress vulnerabilities and you can search the plugins code for these flaws: https://github.com/wpscanteam/wpscan/wiki/WordPress-Plugin-Security-Testing-Cheat-Sheet
wordpress enumeration without wpscan

There is one annoying "gotcha" when using WPScan, especially plugin enumeration, which is for the best results you have to go an extra step and add the "--plugins-detection mixed" option. It is documented in our user documentation - https://github.com/wpscanteam/wpscan/wiki/WPScan-User-Documentation#enumeration-modes

wpscan will audit for plugins used that have publicly exposed vulnerabilities. The methods of detection are quite clever and it works well.

My implementation takes the opposite approach. It removes common subdomains compiled by SecLists. Most of the 5000+ common subdomains on the list do not provide meaningful identity differentiation, such as www., en., m., shop., and www.news.
Bye bye to the code raiding meta
1 project | reddit.com/r/playrust | 29 Nov 2021
I tested out code raiding with a few friends.. with 8 people you can enter every single one of the 10 000 codes in under 4 hours. If you use the most common code list you are generally in within 2 hours. That is broken imo.
The perfect tool for Rust code raiding!

When enough people have joined, you can do /startevent. When you do this, all participants receive a DM from the bot, on which codes to check. After 10 codes, you'll be able to see the average time (from the last 25 codes checked) used to check 1 code. We scale this to make a statistical estimate on when you're done raiding (Math based on Daniel Miesl's data).

Even on one of my laptop (razer blade 2018 advanced model) I've tested many distros and I still came back to arch because it's just so great. And it took me something like 10 minutes to setup optimus. Pacman + AUR is really perfect and I've only had to get something on github once or twice (very niche things, like this : https://github.com/danielmiessler/SecLists which wouldn't make sense to have on the official repo anyway ).
