key.br alternative?
You may be able to import /usr/share/dict/american-english (the default spell checker dictionary) on a linux box for a word list in amphetype. That would presumably get you actual words. These files will be found in the packages wamerican, wbritish, wcanadian and could be extracted on other systems or downloaded from here: http://wordlist.aspell.net/. You can also probably use the /usr/games/fortunes/fortunes file if you use sed to replace % lines with blank lines. ~~~~ sed -e 's/%$//' fortunes_typing ~~~~ There is also a riddle and a literature file (quotes) in the same directory

The longest word you can type on the first row of a QWERTY keyboard
What are your rules for what counts as a "word"? If you go with the basic scrabble rules (i.e. nothing that would be capitalized or punctuated) then YAWL[1] is pretty good, with the downside being the most recent version I know of is from 2008.
