how to open a file when I am working in vterm
I use with-editor so my EDITOR environment variable is set accordingly in my vterm sessions.
- Is it possible to redirect a command that opens $EDITOR to an emacs buffer instead?

Encrypting org files with age
A couple of weeks back, someone had a similar tool from Mozilla working in a similar way and I recommended having a look at ansible-vault-mode, because ansible vaults work very much the same way.. You have a file, a key and a command that can encrypt the file with the key or decrypt it..

Probably a little more complicated than you had in mind, but there's a minor mode to open ansible's encrypted vaults which sounds as if it works very similar to sops.
What are some alternatives?
When comparing with-editor and ansible-vault-mode you can also consider the following projects:
sops - Simple and flexible tool for managing secrets
age - A simple, modern and secure encryption tool (and Go library) with small explicit keys, no config options, and UNIX-style composability.
