Remotely administer proxmox
Exactly. Even a wireguard LXC container would work. I also installed docker on my wireguard VM so I can run wg-ui to make management easier and generate QR codes to scan when adding devices. https://github.com/EmbarkStudios/wg-ui

Wireguard on host or in Docker container?
I run a lightweight VM just for wireguard with a kernel that has it built in. On the same VM I installed docker and run https://github.com/EmbarkStudios/wg-ui which makes it way easier to create profiles.

Evaluating moving from OpenVPN to WireGuard. Some questions.
The only way I’ve found, is to use a GUI like this: https://github.com/EmbarkStudios/wg-ui. Pi-VPN is another popular option.

Thought so, as I was trying to do the same thing as you when I found it. Hope it does the job for you as it does for me. Then after you learn a bit more about docker and docker-compose you can also add this as a dead simple UI for Wireguard https://github.com/EmbarkStudios/wg-ui .

Milestone Update 2 - Safeguard VPN
Nothing to report with the VPN node, we currently don't have a timescale for this part of the project but as we will be reusing the majority of our code from Mawthuq Wireguard Manager and API we believe that this area of work will be shorter than the other two.
