I've had this same problem before, so I feel your pain. You can change the interpreter location as others have suggested - you can specify the full path if it doesn't automatically show up in the interpreter menu. You do this more easily by setting your Python interpreter menu to "always on".

It is a fork on the vscode-dbt-power-user extension made by Innoverio, and the vscode-dbt-bigquery-power-user made by Butchland. And you can just use the same config/setup as the vscode-dbt-power-user extension.
