Upgrading Hansson Nextcloud VM to NEXT major release
While the Hansson VM works fine and I haven't had many issues other than this, I strongly recommend to use a difference version of NC. This guy is obviously trying to scam users into paying him money for something he could easily add to his update script. Proof is here on this GitHub page, though I was unable to get it working. However that is likely a limitation of my abilities and nothing to do with being able to modify the script.

Install Help
What is the difference between the All-In-One VM on the NextCloud website and those from Hansson IT? According to the GitHub page, the version on the NextCloud website is not the "full version". What does that mean? What is missing?

Alternative to PhotoPrism?
Yes, I've run into an occasional issue during the upgrade on the VM, but I always take a snapshot before the update so i can roll back and try again if i run into any issues. To install ffmpeg or others, you can directly install it on the VM. A simple apt-get and it'll be a persistent install (It won't be uninstalled by a NC update). The official Nextcloud VM uses ubuntu and Postgres (https://github.com/nextcloud/vm) and is pre-tuned for pretty good performance. It also has some built in scripts in the /var/scripts directory that you can use to easily install additional features and configurations, test beta releases, etc.

Nextcloud alternative?
If you're up for another attempt, try without AIO. It is not as easy to find as it used to be, I admit, but it is there on https://github.com/nextcloud/vm. The 2 links below are found on the github page.

What is the deal with the spell checker?
I'd recommend informing the devs about this via Github.

For the NextCloud VM, can I use Google Domains instead of the provided options? (cloudflare, desec, etc)
The vm says, "If your DDNS provider isn't already supported, please open a new issue here: https://github.com/nextcloud/vm/issues".

Pihole sees my router as osync.lan
I tried googling and see this github repo for a shell tool called osync. Not sure if that's what it is or if that's a "red herring". From reading the description of that tool, it sounds like it's syncing files? With what? From what?

Thinking that nextcloud was not the right storage solution for my family
I still use it, because that's what I decided to set up after looking around and people raining praise onto it, but I wouldn't ever recommend it. It's a neat project, it does work if you essentially never touch it afterwards, but it's not a useful one as is if you do want to move things around a bit. I'd much rather use anything else, even proprietary solutions, than have to use Syncthing. When I stop lazing about and rebuild my system, I'm probably moving over to osync or something. Better that than Syncthing.

Looking for a way to share and sync a directory across projects.
A tool called osync which might be able to do the job, it's like OS-level solution.

Fill in the blanks: You may be using _______, but should be using _______.
I've been considering simply moving over to osync because the little shit can't even handle a few additional files without crapping out. It works fine, when it works, but I almost don't dare touch it lest it crap itself out again. Its a sync program, adding a folder of some twenty pictures should not make it decide to dig an early grave.
What are some alternatives?
