Vim is a decades old text editor that has become a tool for power users thanks to Vimscript, a language dedicated to writing Vim plugins (here's a small example, not mine). In the last few years, a project called Neovim has started re-writing Vim and adding support for writing plugins with Lua, which was already popular in game modding like Gmod or TBOI.
