Unicomp Inc.'S "New" Model M Keyboard
Recent batches also use Rpi Picos now which let you flash custom firmware. https://github.com/purdeaandrei/vial-qmk-overnumpad-and-aris...
In theory, they're probably "worse" than a brand new IBM made Model M was but I think people overestimate the feel of extant Model Ms that have been around for 30, 40 years now. I also found PS/2 -> USB adapters to be pretty flaky after a few years.
My comparison is a IBM made SSK and Lexmark made regular M.

P122 Cord Mod Help
Since you have a pico-based controller, you might want to try out the (probably better) free software Vial-QMK firmware, you can find here: https://github.com/purdeaandrei/vial-qmk-overnumpad-and-aristides-2862/releases/latest

A look at Unicomp's new RP2040 controller cards!
Unicomp has two new controllers - Aristides and Mike Smith/Justify, named after Kentucky racehorses. Aristides is for 10x-key and 122-key Model Ms and pandrew has already made a QMK VIAL port for it. Justify is [most of the] new Mini M controller and Mike Justify (named after a jockey that rode Justify (that sounds mad out of context...)) is the daughterboard containing the left Triomate socket and four LVC125A buffer gates. No QMK VIAL port for it yet though but it's only a matter of time.

A new era of reprogrammable OEM controllers on Unicom keyboards is beginning. Exciting!
You can download a build of VIAL-QMK here: https://github.com/purdeaandrei/vial-qmk-overnumpad-and-aristides-2862/releases/latest Go for the file called unicomp_classic_ultracl_post_2013_aristides_2862_vial.uf2 if you have a New Model M.
