In need of Wireless AP suggestions
These definitely support VLANs, as well as many other features. They do require an application for management installed on your network, although this application does not have to be left running unless using a captive portal on a guest network. That being said though, there is a GIT hub project that allows you to actually host the controller ON your pfSense firewall. You can find it HERE.
- PFSense router box recommendation.
- Best way to get pfSense router data/stats into network application/controller?

CLI to check for traffic to certain domains?
there is a tool that should be able to do what you want, kind of... but it requires a lot of tinkering to get it working https://github.com/lephisto/pfsense-analytics

Comcast 940mbps + PFsense on i5-6500 = great performance. I don't saturate the link too often, but it's nice to see my PFsense box not break a sweet when needed.
I'm going to work on getting https://github.com/lephisto/pfsense-analytics to work this weekend
