Widgy On MacOs
Both have been around for ages. Übersicht is newer and still maintained, dunno about GeekTool. creating widgets for either requires (some) knowledge of coding / command line usage. finding pre-made widgets is pretty easy for Übersicht. there's an official website, an official GitHub repo, and simply searching on GitHub is also an option.

You might like this widget then btw, if you are okay with not having controls. I am recommending this because it's SUPER customisable and really resource friendly
