I created a tool for easier SNMP Trap setup
Then we created https://github.com/bangunindo/trap2json. The idea is similar, we parse snmptrapd output, but instead of dumping it to file, we send it to zabbix trapper item as JSON. It also deals with HA zabbix server + zabbix proxy setup.

You might find something more attuned to that use case to be more helpful out of the box (like thingsboard.io) but if you're committed to django, set up an API endpoint to receive json updates ('events') sent from the arduino.
