Terminal 'status' bar/area, a la shox
Check out the Nova theme which is essentially a status bar for a configurable option. The Dracula theme is another one that comes preconfigured with a load of goodies but I prefer to configure my own with Nova.

Does anyone know how to achieve the pointed highlighting effect in this status bar? Mine is currently square. Thanks!
pretty sure it's nerdfonts which give that pointed bg effect. checkout the themes in https://github.com/jimeh/tmux-themepack for some example implementations (regardless of nerdfont or not, themes there have that effect).
