terraform-example-foundation VS lima

- How do we secure?

You can use this approach for each step along the way, how to secure secrets in your cloud? code? IaC? container deployments? CI/CD?

If we assume infra / app is code, the tooling matters a lot less. How do you provision certificates via IaC? How do you grant IAM to resources and how do you revoke?

There are examples like https://github.com/terraform-google-modules/terraform-exampl... of more advanced IaC architectures, but you can start as small or as complex as you want and evolve if done properly.

Personally, I love me some Kubernetes + ArgoCD (GitOps) + Google Workload Identity + Google Secret Manager, but I am 100% biased.

How did I tackle this exam? 1. On github there is an example foundation for GCP on terraform. https://github.com/terraform-google-modules/terraform-example-foundation I went through this week after week to help me learn. I made customizations and I deployed and destroyed over and over again, making changes. I used this to create a basic organization with a website, this is how I learnt.

You can run a virtual machine (e.g. lima) from inside a nix-shell, exactly as you would do with a regular shell.

they seem to be using the excellent lima <https://github.com/lima-vm/lima#readme> for booting on macOS; I run colima for its containerd and k8s support but strongly recommend both projects $(brew install lima colima)

Lima is what I use as well. It's quick and easy to just fire up a VM with default settings, but also very easy to configure with different file sharing options, port forwarding, different linux distributions, etc. (their examples are also pretty good IMO [1]).

In particular I use it to run an amd64 VM, which I need to run a stubborn service for work that doesn't run on arm CPUs.

Lima (1) is a project that packages Linux distros for MacOS and executes them via qemu in the backend. Maybe you could solve your problem by launching one of their vms and inspecting the command line it generates. You might find an option you were missing.
