Why I Like Obsidian
I also tried Syncthing to sync my Obsidian vault between my desktop PC and my Android smartphone. However, I don't like having a file synced multiple times in the background while I'm editing it. Since I want my notes to be versioned with Git, I ended up finding a sync solution using Git that works just fine!
I have documented my setup with Git, the Obsidian Git plugin on Desktop and Termux on Android here: https://github.com/davidkopp/termux-scripts/
Nevertheless, I still use Syncthing to sync other files between my devices. Great tool!

[Guide] Obsidian Git Sync on app opening Android
I’m using almost the same approach to automatically sync my vault between my devices (Git, Termux, Tasker). The main difference is, that I'm using the great git-sync script by Simon Thum for syncing. In the past I had some problems with a simple script that included only git pull, commit and push. With the git-sync script I now have less problems. Nevertheless you can't avoid to have conflicts if you or plugins edit the same files at the same time. I have documented my setup in this GitHub repository.

Obsidian 1.5 Desktop (Public)
Another Obsidian alternative which I use every day is Anytype[1]. It's fully open source however under their own license which has some interesting terms to discourage commercial adoption. They seem to be very focused on individual use. The user experience is similar to Notion with some subtle differences, but overall very positive. The biggest plus for me was offline p2p sync and a really solid mobile app.

A structured note-taking app for personal use
+1 and curious, too
I would go further than that also. It directly mirrors https://anytype.io/ but without the desktop or mobile clients to actually store the workspace on your device.
