Personally, I have two phones (main phone with data SIM and SMS-slave-phone with a SIM card since the government likes to force us all have a number for whatever reason). I have both Pulse SMS (in case I ever need to reply, hasn't happened yet) and telegram-sms running. The latter forwards my SMS to a Telegram channel. I think it also supports replying, but I never tried. Good luck!

I'm really struggling to leave Apple's ecosystem.
If you mean SMS is not synced, then there are a couple of ways ([1](https://github.com/telegram-sms/telegram-sms), [2](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=xyz.klinker.messenger), [3](https://f-droid.org/en/packages/eu.droogers.smsmatrix/)), but again, not sure how private they are or how well they even work. SMS is insecure though, and I wouldn't use it for anything I am not forced to use it for (which 99.9% of the time is activation codes).

Have no idea where you got this from. My Telegram X gets updated every couple weeks or so. You can see the commits here. If you're using Telegram X in Play Store, you need to join in the beta.

Where is it? There is a in-app link to source code that links to github.com/TGX-Android/Telegram-X but its either private or not existing. Was X ever open source or did they close it lately?
