strava-map-switcher VS strava-gear

Hi, I'm the author of the strava-map-switcher[1] browser extension and last year I published strava-offline[2], a tool to download activities metadata from Strava into local sqlite database (and optionally also activities as gpx).

I'm quite a data nerd, so I wanted to track component wear in more detail than Strava allows. Some people on /r/Strava suggested their online web-based gear trackers, but I was always afraid of trusting them with all the data, and also quite reluctant to enter hundreds of components manually. I really prefer to keep this in git rather than in a 3rd party website that can go away. So now that I have activities metadata in sqlite from strava-offline, it was quite easy to create a local gear tracker that reads rules from YAML and computes component wear. Most of the work was spent polishing this and documenting. :-)

I was out on vacation most of June/July so it's a bit late and the stats look like people have been uninstalling the extension, but it should be all fixed now: https://github.com/liskin/strava-map-switcher/releases/tag/v0.18

Just released v0.17 with support for map switching on the Personal Heatmap. It's up on both Chrome and Firefox extension stores. Links to download here: https://github.com/liskin/strava-map-switcher#installation

I don't think I can do it myself as the geoportail website doesn't work from where I am. Can you perhaps open a pull request like someone else did for the other Geoportail map: https://github.com/liskin/strava-map-switcher/pull/8/files ?

There's also https://github.com/liskin/strava-gear which I released this week. It's a command-line tool, so the audience is a bit limited, but it's way easier to add half a dozen bikes with dozens of components by editing a local text file than entering all that through a web interface that doesn't forgive mistakes.
