Who says GIMP doesn't look good?
I've been documenting various things concerning this setup in a couple of places. Note I am basing some of this, the css, on Mojave-dark being the system theme. https://github.com/rbreaves/sorun/issues/30 https://gist.github.com/rbreaves/0123b9584ca288536c60bfe81e96e976

Switching from macOS to Pop _OS
Could try my Sorun.me script.. built for Ubuntu Budgie and installs a lot of dev goodies (can be read in a basic yaml config file before installing) and yes consistent shortcuts from my meticulously built Kinto.sh app.

Have fun!!!

Switched Work Computer from MacOS to Fedora 35 on Thinkpad - 2 Week Impressions
Apparently the creator of kinto.sh (the script to change shortcuts to be macOS-like) is working on a bigger script called sorun.me to make many things in Linux behave more like macOS. I'm not sure what's the extent, but I'll probably test that on Ubuntu Budgie too later.

Consider moving to KDE if you value non-blurry text on your non-hidpi screen
For gnome on x11 I wrote betterScale to address the hidpi issue.. works pretty well for me. https://github.com/rbreaves/betterScale
- Is there a way to set fractional scaling on one monitor without it affecting the other?
- Fractional scaling or Scale Factor?
- Fractional scaling is broken in Linux. We have to do something about it.

Linux rant. why all desktop distros are flawed?
https://github.com/rbreaves/betterScale
I am pretty impressed with what all is out there to create a really bang up OS on Linux these days - also impressed with how little development time has been spent on actually polishing up all the amazing things they have actually built.
All of the ingredients are there, but there's been no real chef in the kitchen to put it all together imo.

BetterScale – A better way to scale on x11 (gnome/budgie)
For those that are interested. I basically wrapped up xrandr & the experimental GDK WindowScalingFactor feature so that people don't have to decipher how to make it work well. You run the script, select the scale you want and it is that simple.
