hassio-addons VS Garbage-Collection

To be honest DOODS was a bit of a pain to get up and running. Dabbled with the Docker version intially then ended up somehow getting it to work using the Add-on store (repo: https://github.com/snowzach/hassio-addons)

I've gone a step further - I let my home automation setup remind me using a home assistant integration I found: https://github.com/bruxy70/Garbage-Collection

https://github.com/bruxy70/Garbage-Collection on Home Assistant will manage the schedule and set state that you can then read form NodeRed to do things like light something up to warn you, etc.

I use the garbage collection sensor custom integration (Link). Despite it being named garbage collection, it is a very powerful countdown to scheduled tasks sensor. You can set it up for all sorts of schedules so hopefully it works for you. Then you can have automations trigger off of the sensor value to know when it is close to going off, or due.

Not in default HA, but you could 100% repurpose the Garbage Collection HACS integration for this! https://github.com/bruxy70/Garbage-Collection

Are you running NodeRed on HomeAssistant? If so look at the Garbage Collection integration. I'm not kidding! It's perfect for creating a sensor that enables every other week on a specific day of the week. Then just watch for that sensor in NodeRed and take action accordingly.
