Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

Build a Vite 5 backend integration with Flask
Once you build a simple Vite backend integration, try not to complicate Vite's configuration unless you absolutely must. Vite has become one of the most popular bundlers in the frontend space, but it wasn't the first and it certainly won't be the last. In my 7 years of building for the web, I've used Grunt, Gulp, Webpack, esbuild, and Parcel. Snowpack and Rome came-and-went before I ever had a chance to try them. Bun is vying for the spot of The New Hotness in bundling, Rome has been forked into Biome, and Vercel is building a Rust-based Webpack alternative.

Node.js vs. Deno vs. Bun: JavaScript runtime comparison
Additional features for Bun include a transpiler and package manager. As hinted at in the name, it also includes bundling features, giving you the functionality that would otherwise require another tool, such as Snowpack or rollup.js. It also has a dead code elimination feature through its JavaScript minifier.

Exploring Vite.js: The Lightning-Fast Build Tool for Modern Web Apps
Even, there are several bundling tools available, including popular ones like Webpack and Snowpack.

Should I migrate from create-react-app?
once upon a time there was this thing called Snowpack: https://www.snowpack.devwhich had a lot of promises as vite (rollup w/ esm). So I migrated a project over from CRA to this thing. While startup speed was much much faster, it actually didn't make the app useable. I timed it meticulously for both CRA and snowpack build and found that the TTI was almost identical. I am not claiming the same to be vite but it's possible and I don't have a large app to prove it..

Vercel announces Turbopack, the successor to Webpack
> special snowflake build toolchains
That reminds me, wasn't there a build tool called Snowflake?
Oh, it was called Snowpack [1]. And it's no longer being actively maintained. Yeesh.

Building an offline-first app with React and CouchDB
The first thing we need is a JavaScript project for our app. We'll use Snowpack as our bundler. Open a terminal located in a directory for the project and type npx create-snowpack-app react-couchdb --template @snowpack/app-template-minimal. Snowpack will create a skeleton for our React application and install all dependencies. Once it's done doing its job, type cd react-couchdb to get into the newly created project directory. create-snowpack-app is very similar to create-react-app in how it sets-up your project, but it's a lot less intrusive (You don't even need to use eject at any point).

Alternatives to CRA?
Snowpack appears to be no longer maintained.

Creating an express app and using Snowpack as a build tool
Before you get too deep into Snowpack, be aware that they recommend using other tools now because itβs no longer maintained.

Converting BlogCFC blog to Eleventy
This post outlines the steps for migrating an existing BlogCFC blog to a JamStack, with a focus on using Eleventy.

Ask HN: What's the simplest static website generator?
I suggest you to try out eleventhy (https://www.11ty.dev/)
Quite simple to start, and a nice system to add some scripting and styles without the requirement of bringing in a framework.
-
Eleventy - Create a global production flag
A production flag enables you to run activities in dev or production such as minifying assets, showing draft posts, etc. There isn't a built-in flag or function that comes with eleventy (11ty) specifically for this. However we have this info at our fingertips.

Ask HN: Looking for lightweight personal blogging platform
I can't recommend Eleventy enough!

I converted my WordPress blog to Eleventy 4 years ago and never looked back, it's been delightful!

Removing React is just weakness leaving your codebase
Itβs 2024, and you are about to start a new project. Do you reach for React, a framework you know and love or do you look at one of the other hot new frameworks like Astro, Enhance, 11ty, SvelteKit or gasp, plain vanilla Web Components?

VS Code - Fix a task automation issue - `The terminal process failed to launch (exit code: 127`

-
Eleventy vs. Next.js for static site generation
Eleventy is a fast and powerful SSG that really shines when it comes to pure static site generation because it does not require the loading of a client-side JavaScript bundle in order to serve content.
-
You don't need JavaScript for that
The irony is using a JavaScript-based static site generator to make the site: https://www.11ty.dev

Why You Should Write Your Own Static Site Generator
https://doublejosh.com/post/186193119278/metalsmithjs-is-sti...
Then two years ago I needed a more robust SSR system based on React, so I went with GatsbyJS. It's insanely mature and intuitive, but as we all know that community and business is now drying up too. But the framework is still great.
Now everyone sings the praises of NextJS, which can be used for SSR but is intended for applications and active server endpoints. But more complexity doesn't mean better.
I'm keen to try other simple frameworks when the result is a static site. I may give https://www.11ty.dev a shot.

From Jason: my custom digital garden in 11ty
11ty is a lightweight static site generator. I chopped up my HTML and used the 11ty starter template called eleventy-base-blog as the structural foundation for the site.
What are some alternatives?
vite - Next generation frontend tooling. It's fast!
astro - The web framework for content-driven websites. βοΈ Star to support our work!
esbuild - An extremely fast bundler for the web
Hugo - The worldβs fastest framework for building websites.
parcel - The zero configuration build tool for the web. π¦π
SvelteKit - web development, streamlined
webpack - A bundler for javascript and friends. Packs many modules into a few bundled assets. Code Splitting allows for loading parts of the application on demand. Through "loaders", modules can be CommonJs, AMD, ES6 modules, CSS, Images, JSON, Coffeescript, LESS, ... and your custom stuff.
Gatsby - The best React-based framework with performance, scalability and security built in.
Publii - The most intuitive Static Site CMS designed for SEO-optimized and privacy-focused websites.
swc - Rust-based platform for the Web
Grav - Modern, Crazy Fast, Ridiculously Easy and Amazingly Powerful Flat-File CMS powered by PHP, Markdown, Twig, and Symfony
