The number of mentions indicates the total number of mentions that we've tracked plus the number of user suggested alternatives.
Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

smolnes: A NES emulator in less than 5000 significant bytes of C++
It's not really human readable in the minified version. If you look at the repo there is a "deobfuscated" version with actual variable names and comments explaining how it works.

Using Exceptions for all Error Handling.... in Theory
This'll require that you write a lot of classes to constrain parameters. May I suggest you don't, and instead use snct::Constrained?

Error handling in API design
I would recommend also watching the second half of Ben Deane's Using Types Effectively and, if that made you think "I should start writing some Total Functions," I suggest you follow it up by looking at the snct::Constrained class for contraining input parameters.

I created snct::constraints, a wrapper that lets you express constraints on parameters directly in code. This lets you write total functions, and puts the constraints right there in code so your users don't need to read separate docs to understand what does/doesn't violate preconditions.
What are some alternatives?
When comparing smolnes and snct-constraints you can also consider the following projects:
pokegb - A gameboy emulator that only plays Pokemon Blue, in ~50 lines of c++.
Pepper - PE32 (x86) and PE32+ (x64) binaries analysis tool, resources viewer/extractor.
raw-wasm - Raw WebAssembly demos
AmsiHelper - Antimalware Scan Interface Helper
jaktnesmonster
simple_raytracing_cuda - Simple Multithreaded Raytracing Ported to CUDA
boytacean - A GB emulator that is written in Rust 🦀!
StrToNum - String to Number conversion constexpr library, for char and wchar_t strings.
binjnes - NES emulator implemented in C, that also runs in the browser
thread-pool - A modern, fast, lightweight thread pool library based on C++20
range - Express inclusive and exclusive ranges and test for membership
