skunk VS slick

The major performance issue with Skunk is tracked here. tl;dr prepared statements currently take a horrifying number of network round-trips to the database. I'm sympathetic to Rob's "what you see is what you get" priorities for Skunk. But I'm glad to see an outline of a plan that sounds like it would satisfy those objectives without being so, for lack of a better term, naïve in their pursuit.

The same creator is working on skunk, which is very exciting. Only works for Postgres though.

The libraries doobie and skunk are more closely associated with cats. They both use cats-effect and fs2 for implementing database connectiona and input-output operations. The doobie library is a wrapper on JDBC, and as such is compatible with many DBMS, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, H2, Oracle... Whereas skunk is specific to PostgreSQL, and is based on using the server protocol of that database.

In the past, I have copied code from Slick Sliders on to the container to generate the animation, but would love to learn how to hand code this myself. I work with WordPress in my company, so alot of PHP is involved as well.

I've tried a few things, like installing vue slick carousel but I'm getting a type error that I can't seem to fix. I looked around and could only find basic carousels, without that perspective and layer-stacking kind of stuff with the center one being on top of the others. Slick slider's center mode (https://kenwheeler.github.io/slick/) is cool, not exactly what I want but the closest at least, but it requires jQuery, which I can't use on that project.

Depending how confident you are with JQuery, and what page builder you’re using, you may be able to set up a Slick Slider or similar around the Cover Block and use multiple Cover Blocks as the slides

Years and years ago I used to use Malsup's jQuery Cycle plugin and then Cycle2 but these now seem long abandoned. I've also used both flexslider and slickslider but I'm wondering if there are better, more modern alternatives I could now be using instead to quickly create sliders or carousels.

If you use the Acquia Product 'Site Studio', the carousel component is just a Slick Slider instance. We've used this in several Drupal projects.

Slick will help you realize the carousel effect. It has a full array of options, works with swipe gestures for mobile devices, and supports other cool features. You can even sync the two carousels if you want to create an overlay effect.
